April showers bring May flowers, but the rainy season can become a nightmare for those of us with unruly hair. The moisture in the air can cause your locks to become frizzy, limp, and hard to manage. The humidity can cause curls to fall flat or become too curly, while straight hair can become wavy or even curly. Additionally, rainwater can contain pollutants that can be damaging to your hair. Frizzy hair can be frustrating to deal with, but with the right techniques and products, you can tame it! Follow these tips to manage your frizzy hair this spring.

  1. Use a sulfate-free Oribe hair shampoo. Sulfates can strip your hair of its natural oils, leading to dryness and frizz. Switching to a sulfate-free shampoo can help keep your hair hydrated and less prone to frizz. If you are unsure of which shampoo is right for you, ask your local hairdresser for recommendations for your specific hair type and texture.
  2. Condition regularly. Conditioning your hair regularly can help keep your locks moisturized and reduce frizz. Look for a conditioner that is designed to hydrate and tame frizz at your NJ hair salon.
  3. Use a microfiber towel or t-shirt to dry your hair. Regular hair towels are oftentimes too rough on hair, which can cause frizz. Instead, use a microfiber towel or cotton t-shirt to gently pat your hair dry.
  4. Apply a leave-in conditioner or hair oil. Oribe products have a great line of moisturizing leave-in conditioners and oils that can help seal in moisture and reduce frizz. Look for ingredients like argan oil, jojoba oil, and coconut oil when choosing products.
  5. Avoid heat styling. Hot tools like flat irons and curling irons can dry your hair and make it more prone to frizz. Try air-drying your hair or using heatless styling techniques such as braids, twists, or buns.
  6. Protect your hair from the humidity. Humidity can cause even the tamest of hair to misbehave. Before leaving the house on a humid day, use a hair serum or styling cream that contains humidity-resistant ingredients.
  7. Get regular trims. Split ends and damaged hair can lead to a frizzy, unmanageable mane. Scheduling regular haircuts at your local hair salon will keep your hair healthy and frizz-free.
